5 Totally Easy (And Natural) Teeth Whitening Tricks!

August 1st, 2017

Everybody wants whiter teeth – but not everyone wants to pay for expensive whitening treatments. Well, you don’t have to! Check out this list of 5 totally easy, natural teeth whitening tricks – and enjoy a brighter, more beautiful smile!

Strawberries and Other Healthy Foods

There is some evidence that malic acid, which is present in large amounts in strawberries, can help remove stains from the enamel of your teeth. Several other healthy foods can have similar effects, such as pineapples and fresh, raw vegetables.

Calcium from sources like dairy can also help strengthen your teeth, and lead to a healthier, brighter smile.

Lemon Peels and Orange Peels

The vitamin C in lemon peels and orange peels combines with natural citric acid to help whiten teeth, kill bacteria, and stimulate saliva production. This can lead to a healthier mouth and a brighter smile.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has natural teeth whitening properties, which is why it’s found in many commercial toothpastes.

If you’d like to turbocharge the whitening process, you can brush with baking soda up to 3 times per week, in addition to your normal dental regimen. Simply combine 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water, and brush with it.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are the two most common natural bleaching agents for a whiter smile.

The best way to use hydrogen peroxide is to purchase a mouthwash that contains at least a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide. You can use this mouthwash every time you brush your teeth to encourage a whiter smile.

Brushing Teeth After Drinking or Eating

This teeth whitening trick is totally simple – just brush after drinking or eating! Drinks like coffee and tea can stain your teeth, as can strongly-colored foods like beets, blueberries, and blackberries.

This leads to eventual discoloration – so prevent this with regular brushing after you eat or drink!
