What Is the Invisalign Process?
The journey to a perfect smile with Invisalign starts with a visit to Avalon Dental Care in Lomita, CA. We will examine your unique needs, discuss your goals, and help you determine whether Invisalign is right for you. Next, we will take digital 3D impressions of your teeth with our iTero intraoral scanner. We will use state-of-the-art computer imaging technology to create your custom treatment plan outlining the movements of your teeth over time and your expected length of treatment. We'll even show you a preview of your expected results.
When your aligners are ready, you'll need to wear them 20-22 hours daily, only taking them out to eat, drink anything but water, and brush or floss your teeth. You'll need to move on from one aligner set to the next about every 1-2 weeks, following your custom treatment plan. As the treatment progresses, you'll see your teeth gradually move into their desired position. Periodic visits to Avalon Dental Care will ensure your treatment remains on track.
After achieving the straight smile of your dreams, we'll provide you with custom retainers to prevent your teeth from moving back into position.

What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that relies on clear, virtually invisible aligners to place gentle pressure on your teeth, gradually moving them into alignment. Your custom aligners are fabricated from a comfortable thermoplastic material known as SmartTrack that guides your teeth into the desired position with exceptional precision.
What Are the Benefits of Invisalign?
Here is a look at some of the benefits of Invisalign:
- Virtually Invisible: The clear aligners are practically unnoticeable, making them a discreet option for adults and teens wanting to straighten their smiles without wearing traditional metal braces.
- Comfortable: Invisalign aligners are created from a smooth, thermoplastic material that's custom-fitted to your teeth, minimizing irritation and discomfort compared to the brackets and wires of traditional braces.
- Removable: Your Invisalign aligners can be easily removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. This not only makes brushing and flossing easier but also means you have no food restrictions, a common issue with traditional braces.
- Versatile: Invisalign can correct a wide variety of orthodontic concerns, including misaligned, overcrowded, and gapped teeth and certain bite problems such as overbites, underbites, open bites, and crossbites.
- Fewer Office Visits: You'll need only periodic visits to our office to ensure your treatment is on track, unlike braces, which require constant tightening and adjustments.
- Faster Treatment: Depending on your specific orthodontic concerns, Invisalign's virtually invisible aligners can straighten your smile up to 50% faster than traditional metal braces.
- Predictable Results: Your Invisalign aligners feature the SmartTrack material and SmartForce features, which apply precise force in the right place at the right time, moving your teeth into position with precision.
- Enhanced Oral Health: Straighter teeth are much easier to clean effectively, which helps reduce plaque accumulation and the risk of tooth decay and periodontal disease.
